I have prepared a powerpoint presentation about a concept called Touch Math.  I work with special education children and this concept is AWESOME.  Every child is successful at learning to count when they learn this concept.

Well, I've been playing with this for a couple days now.  I hope I have it figured out.  It sure is hard to teach an old dog new tricks . . . but I'm trying.

I've tested both links and they appear to be working.  I even shared these documents with everyone so hopefully you can see them.  Any feedback would be greatly appreciated.

Searching for Followers

I am searching for Followers to help me with this class. I assumed, we all know what happens when we assume, that once the blog was created for this class that all of the students were automatically followers.  I think I was wrong.  After digging through the Followers application, I found that we have to invite followers.  Unfortunately, I was not able to locate many Gmail addressess through the Dicsussion Board.

Google Drawing

I think I figured out how to get into the Drawing tool.  I've been working on a document for at least 2 hours & am having a hard time getting things to copy, paste, stay where I put them.  But I'm trying.  I have the basic concept of what to do but I'm must be making it harder than what it is because it is not going smoothly.

I'm finding the assignments in this class frustrating.  I'm having to install programs on my computer that I am not familiar with & then I still can't get the programs to work right.  I attempted to do the Google Drawing assignment.  Again, my computer browser does not support Google drawings & I have to install Google Chrome.  Can all of the things we install for this class be removed?

Self Assessment

While taking the Self Assessment I came to realize that I THOUGHT I was computer "semi-intelligent" but came to the fast realization that I AM NOT computer smart at all.  There is a huge variety of programs & tools that can be used but I do not know how to use them and get easily frustrated when trying to learn how to use them.

What is glog? It appears that a Glog is the same as a blog.

How might you use a glog in your class? i will be working with younger children so I probably will not use the glog function with them.  If I worked with older children, Glog could be used as an incentive for older kids.

What ISTE NETS T does the use of Glogster most likely correspond with in your opinion?

What is the problem (if any) with this program?
I did not like the fact that you have to save everytime you change 1 thing.

Picaso drawing

This was a fun activity.  I only encountered a couple problems but was able to figured them out quickly.  I had trouble with the color feature.  I finally figured out that to change color you click on the picture you want to color & then click on the art easle.  I also wanted to delte something - I right clicked on the item & delete was not the option; however, click on the tiem to be dleted and then in the bottorm right corner to hit the trash can & the itme you have selected will be gone.

My Learning Style

I took this test & the results are right on.  I am a hands on learner.  I didn't know this was called Kinesthetic learning.  I am a visual, hands on learner.  I do not do well with lectures or exams.  It says that I need to understand things - this is also very true for me.

Frustration with Snipping Tools

I cannot get Snipping Tool to copy!  I was able to send the snipping info in an email. 

Finally Snipping Tool

I got Snipping Tool to come up.  I was able to encircle something to snip.  I saved it as 1st Snipping Tool.  Copied it.  But, I cannot paste it.  I have been working on this for days & I cannot get it to work.  I also have no volume on any of my links for these class activities & this is making things difficult for me.

TPack

I have started working on the Google Doc, TPack assignment.  I saved & closed the document.  When I created this document I shared the document so I hope that it automatically updates to whoever has decided to look at it.

Video Thread Activity

I found the video thread activity interesting. This is the first time that I have used a web cam and now I can see how families find it to be a fantastic way to communicate with loved ones who are far away.

Voice thread is a way to relate your comments, thoughts or opinions on some form of media communication. This function could benefit any business because it gives the viewer an opportunity to provide immediate feedback and/or revisions to a document.

Google Reader

A blog syndication is using your blog's feed to deliver your blog’s content to other blogs. So, my understanding of this statement is, by putting information in our blog and providing a link to our blog, that our information is shared with others. Is this right? Or am I totally confused?

Teachers TPACK

I learned how to create a document in Google Docs. My document is called MsMichelle Teachers TPACK. It is my understanding that we have the semester to work on this document. If I'm not right, someone please let me know.

I also hope that I am using the blog feature correctly. By looking at the Activities Schedule it has a column that is title Post so I am assuming that means we are to post that many times about the subject. Right?! Thanks for your help.

I looked at the 2 videos on this page. It shows how to publish information through Google Docs. Now I have to learn how to create a document in Google Docs. It is going to be hard to teach this old dog new tricks. Bear with me, its going to be a long semester.

Personality Profile

I already did the Personality Profile work. Unfortunately that was one of the sections that I created in my second GBlog. I did try to import those postings into this GBlog so all of my work was in one place, but I couldn't do it. I was afraid that I would not do something work & screw up both GBlogs so I just left well enough alone. Sorry Professor. For a couple of assignments you may need to look at my other GBlog. From this point on, I am using this GBlog.

Mozilla Download

OK I downloaded the Mozilla Firefox search engine. I do not like adding new things to my computer, especially when I am not familiar with them. I don't like change & now I have to learn where things are all over again. I am not that fast on the computer when it comes to using the internet & this will really slow me down for a while. One of two things will happen by the time this class is over: (1) I will really come to life Mozilla & want to keep it on my computer; or, (2) I will delete it the day the class is over. Any bets??? HAHAH

What is a web browser?
My understanding of a web browser is it is a search engine that we use to locate information. Browsers somehow do the in depth searching for us & provide us with possible answers to our inquiries.

List the most popular 4 web browsers currently?
I am familiar with the World Wide Web, Google, Microsoft search and AOL search. Today I read about Mozilla, Cello, Arena, Lynx, Mosaic and Netscape.

According to statistics for the month of April 2010 Firefox, Chrome, Internet Explorer 8 and Internet Explorer are the most popular browsers.


What does the term 'browser war' mean and what drives the competition between web browsers? What is the big deal in having the #1 browser?
My understanding of "browser war" is the competition between companies to provide more services, better services, more efficient services to the customer. As technology grows so does the consumer demand to have more reliable, fast & efficient technology. We are in a world of hurry, get it done now & it better be right. Therefore, computer companies are striving for excellence & that keeps the competition growing. As in life, being #1 IS the ultimate achievment. To have world wide recognition of being the #1 browser service in the world would be to achieve greatness.

Blog screw up

Well, I thought I lost my blog & it turns out that I screwed up. I am so used to using my aol address that I used it to sign into the blogger account & that created a new blog so, of course, none of my previous blog entries were there. Now that I have realized what my mistake was, I will only use my gmail address. All of my class related blogs will be on this account.

Internet Connection Test

Ok, I couldn't access the Personality Profile so I decided to move on until I got some help. Well, I'm batting a hundred - the next activity, the Internet Connection Test was also unavailable. I tried to same troubleshooting fixes and again nothing worked. As before, any help or suggestions are appreciated. Thanks!

Personality Profile

I tried to access the Personality Profile (tiny.cc/f6nin) and it said page was unavailable. Has anyone else had this probelm? If so, how did you fix it? I tried copying & pasting the address in the search bar, I typed the address in the search bar & I double clicked the address from the Activities scheduled - none of which worked. Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Tpack Assignment

I printed the reading in the TPACK assignment. Unfortunately I have read 3 days. I'm sure he willl be happy once he walks out of the door and he gets to talk.

I have set up my blog account. It is FSU EDUC2201 - original, huh?! It is my understanding that we are to post to our own blogs. But, does anyone know if we are supposed to look at anyone else's blog? I'm just don't want to screw up this class so if anyone knows, please let me know.

Well, I set up my Gmail account. This will just add to the list of accounts that I already have to check on a daily basis. I have my work account, my FSU account, my personal account & now this class account. It takes me 30 minutes just to delete the junk mail out of the accounts. HAHA

I have been working my way through the information on Blackboard. I am confused. I found 2 activity sheets for this class. They are similiar in ways; however, there is some different information between the two. I hope that I am completing all of the work necessary for this class. Has anyone found a condensed activity sheet?

Hello Fellow FSU Students! I hope that I am doing this correctly. I have never "blogged" before in my life. The directions weren't quite clear as to exactly what we are supposed to be doing with the blog other than we should have an entry for every day there is an assignment. So, with today being the first day of class, this is my first blog. If someone knows that we are supposed to do this differently, please let me know.
